KATHMANDU, April 21: The Supreme Court could not hear the writ petition challenging the amended criteria for appointing a provincial governor on Monday.
The bench of Justices Mahesh Sharma Paudel and Nripadhwaj Niraula listed the case as “not to be heard,” preventing the hearing from proceeding.
Revised interest rate corridor system introduced
The government had revised the criteria to allow individuals over 65 years of age to qualify for the position. Advocate Bishal Thapa and others filed a writ petition against the amendment.
Earlier, Justice Nityananda Pandey, presiding over a single bench, had issued a short-term interim order barring the government from implementing the new criteria.
The court had summoned both parties on Sunday to decide whether to extend the interim order. However, the hearing was postponed on both Sunday and Monday due to time constraints.
The court has not yet scheduled the next hearing.
