Geologists probe site five days after vehicle sinks in quicksand-like ground in Hetauda

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when a single-cab Bolero pickup (Na 4 Cha 4833) suddenly sank into the ground while in motion. The vehicle’s owner, Hari Ram Rai, reported the incident. Despite ongoing search efforts, the vehicle has yet to be found.

KATHMANDU, May 6: A team from the Department of Mines and Geology has reached Gairigaun, in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, to study the area where a vehicle disappeared due to land subsidence.



Led by geologist Narayan Adhikari, the four-member team began its investigation on the fifth day after the incident, where a pickup vehicle was swallowed by the ground.

According to Adhikari, the study will focus on the geological structure of the site, underground water sources, magnetic fields, and other related aspects. The team will conduct a statistical analysis of the soil surface and investigate the cause of the incident.


They will use a proton magnetometer to examine the magnetic field and the presence of other underground substances.
