Flights operation from south of TIA halted amid protests

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: The Gen Z protests have disrupted operations at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Flights departing from and landing on the south side of the airport have been temporarily halted.



Protesters set tires on fire near the Tinkune area toward Koteshwor, generating heavy smoke that reduced visibility, forcing authorities to suspend south-side operations.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Spokesperson Gyanendra Bhul said flights are now taking off and landing from the north side (Guheshwori) of the airport. “Currently, flights are operating through the northern side,” Bhul informed Republica.
