Five held in minor kidnapping and murder case in Siraha

Mahato was abducted on Sunday evening from a nearby chowk and found dead Tuesday morning in a mango orchard about 100 meters away from his home. His hands and legs were tied and acid had been poured on his body, according to police.

LAHAN, Sept 23:  Police in Siraha have detained five suspects in connection with the kidnapping and murder of 17-year-old Abhishek Mahato of Golbazar Municipality-13, Dangraha. Their names have not been disclosed as investigations are ongoing, police said.



Mahato was abducted on Sunday evening from a nearby chowk and found dead Tuesday morning in a mango orchard about 100 meters away from his home. His hands and legs were tied and acid had been poured on his body, according to police.

The abductors had demanded Rs 50 million ransom through IMO on Mahato’s mother’s phone on Monday morning. Despite the family informing police immediately, relatives accused authorities of failing to rescue him on time.


Provincial police deployed trained sniffer dogs for the investigation, while locals criticized delays in confirming it as a kidnapping case. Police said those involved will be brought to justice soon.
