Currently, the country is under the influence of monsoonal winds, with the monsoon trough positioned slightly north of its average location—closer to Nepal, the DHM informed.
According to the DHM, rainfall amounts are classified into different categories based on the total precipitation received within a 24-hour period. If a location receives between 50 to 100 millimeters of rain, it is categorized as "heavy" rainfall.
Rainfall between 10 to 50 millimeters is considered "moderate," while up to 10 millimeters falls under the "light" rainfall category. Furthermore, when a place records 100 to 200 millimeters of rain within 24 hours, it is classified as "very heavy" rainfall. If the precipitation exceeds 200 millimeters in a day, it is termed "extremely heavy" rainfall.
