Daily turnover marginally declines to Rs 9.50 billion while NEPSE inches up 2.40 points

KATHMANDU, July 6: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday increased marginally by 2.40 points to close at 2,706.36 points.



The secondary market opened at 2,703.96 points and initially plunged to the day’s low at 2.697.92 points in the first 19 minutes, while it spiked successively to reach as high as 2,721.58 points in the midway of the four-hour trading time.

The index, however, declined in the second half by around 15 points to close for the day. Seven out of the 13 groups were marked as the gainers, with ‘others’ posting the highest single-day gain of 70.86 points in its index. Life insurance declined by 176.71 points and was recorded as the highest loser.


The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 0.67 points. The daily turnover amount also fell marginally to Rs 9.50 billion from Rs 9.64 billion on Thursday, the last trading day of the last week. 


Among the individual companies, 87 were gainers while 162 were recorded as the losers. Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 494.00 million.


Nepal Finance Ltd was the largest gainer. Goodwill Finance Limited Debenture lost the largest of 8.87 percent of its market value.
