CIAA summons nine officials involved in visit visa scandal for statement

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has summoned nine employees of the Ministry of Home Affairs for statement in connection with the visit visa scandal.

KATHMANDU, May 23: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has summoned nine employees of the Ministry of Home Affairs for statement in connection with the visit visa scandal.



Following their involvement in the visit visa scandal, the Ministry of Home Affairs transferred Under Secretary Tirtha Raj Bhattarai; Nayab Subbas (non-gazetted first class officials), Prem Prasad Paudel, Bir Bhadra Joshi, and Nar Bahadur Thapa; computer operators Uden Subedi, Pradeep Kumar Yadav, Pawan Gurung, and Dhanraj Upadhyay; and assistant computer operator Kamala Shrestha. Under Secretary Bhattarai has been taken into custody by the CIAA.

Earlier, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak had transferred them within the ministry. Deputy Subba officers Paudel and Joshi were transferred to the Kathmandu District Administration Office, while Thapa was transferred to the Banke District Administration Office. The computer operators were transferred to the Department of Prison Management and its affiliated offices.
