APF seizes clothes, cigarettes worth tens of thousands rupees

It is suspected that the goods were smuggled from India.

SARLAHI, July 24: The Armed Police Force (APF) has seized a large quantity of smuggled clothes and cigarettes in Sarlahi. On Wednesday night, around 30 bundles of clothes and cigarettes—worth hundreds of thousands of rupees—were confiscated from a warehouse located in Chaulikha Bazaar of Ishwarpur Municipality-1.



A joint team led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Dev Bahadur Chand, Chief of the APF No. 10 Headquarters in Sarlahi, and Customs Officer Dambar Bahadur Basnet from the Malangawa Customs Office raided the warehouse and made the seizure. It is suspected that the goods were smuggled from India.

SP Chand stated that approximately 28 to 30 bundles of clothing and cigarettes were recovered, although the exact value is yet to be confirmed.


He further added that the valuation process is underway, and the seized items will be officially registered with customs. SP Chand has recently taken a proactive role in intercepting smuggled goods.


According to sources, the clothes and cigarettes were brought in through the Sangrampur, Parsa, and Narayanpur border points of Sarlahi.
