Zelensky warns Putin will take war beyond Ukraine

NEW YoORK, Sept 25: Ukraine’s President Zelensky warned that Russia will expand the war if not stopped, the BBC reported. Speaking at the UN in New York, he urged a united front, more military aid, and global rules on AI weapons, noting that “weapons decide who survives,” according to the BBC.



He criticised global institutions as “too weak” to protect Ukraine, suggesting NATO membership does not guarantee safety, the BBC noted. He argued halting Russia now is cheaper than risking nuclear-armed drones later and urged urgent action.

Zelensky warned Europe could lose Moldova to Moscow’s influence, saying the West had missed chances in Georgia and Belarus, the BBC reported. Moldova’s president Maia Sandu accused the Kremlin of spending hundreds of millions to destabilise her country before Sunday’s elections.


The BBC reported Estonia, Poland, and Romania accused Russia of violating their airspace last week. Trump urged NATO to shoot down Russian aircraft and called Russia a “paper tiger.” Zelensky praised Trump’s shift, saying he had a good meeting and believed Washington will offer Ukraine security guarantees after the war.


US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Russia’s Sergei Lavrov, the BBC noted, reiterating Trump’s call for Moscow to take meaningful steps toward ending the war. The Kremlin dismissed Trump’s remarks, insisting Russia is “a bear, not a paper tiger.”
