Youth involved in killing his elder brother arrested in Siraha

SIRAHA, July 28: A man who allegedly killed his elder brother in the course of a family dispute has been arrested while trying to flee to India, police said.



According to Siraha District Police, 25-year-old Shyam Kumar Sada of Golbazar Municipality–10, Musaharnia, fatally attacked his 35-year-old brother Motiram Sada with a sharp weapon last Thursday evening.

Police said Shyam, who had returned home intoxicated, began assaulting his wife, Kaushila Sada. When his brother tried to intervene, Shyam stabbed him in the chest. Although neighbors rushed Motiram to Provincial Hospital in Lahan, he died during treatment.


The suspect was arrested from Jamuwa canal route in Aurahi Rural Municipality–3, about three kilometers from the Nepal–India border, while attempting to escape.


Police have taken Shyam into custody for further investigation after securing a five-day remand from the Siraha District Court. The weapon used in the crime has been recovered and the suspect has confessed to the crime during preliminary interrogation, said DSP Birendra Kumar Paswan.
