KATHMANDU, April 2: People across the world are marking World Autism Awareness Day today with various programs to raise awareness about the condition.
The United Nations started observing this day in 2007, urging all sectors of society to support individuals with autism in securing their human rights and fundamental freedoms.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres highlighted the day's significance in achieving sustainable development goals and fulfilling health-related commitments. In his message, he urged governments and communities to ensure access to healthcare, education, and employment opportunities for individuals with autism.
