MORANG, Dec 26: A woman died in a house fire in Urlabari of eastern Morang Monday evening
According to police, Rina Thapa, 45, the daughter-in-law of Ram Bahadur Thapa of Urlabari Municipality-7 was killed in the fire. Police Inspector Ram Prasad Timsina of the Area Police Office (APO) informed Republica that Rina died on the spot but her 84-year old father-in-law was successfully rescued.

"Our preliminary investigation shows that property worth Rs 500,000 was destroyed in the fire," said Timsina, adding, "We are yet to ascertain the cause of the fire." As the house was made of bamboo and straw, the fire turned it into ashes in no time, according to Timsina.
Earlier, in the third week of November, a fire had gutted the house and shop of Bhatiram Adhikari of the same ward of the municipality, destroying property worth Rs 11.5 million.
The municipality doesn't have a fire engine.
