“I lodged a complaint at the local police post but they did not show any interest. It is not safe for me to return home. I request you all to help me get justice,” Bhagat told mediaperson in Rajbiraj.

According to Bhagat, her neighbors Santosh Bhagat, Hasan Bhagat and Ram Bhagat along with a woman faith-healer barged into her home around 2 A.M. on Sunday and physically abused her. Showing burn injuries to her body, Bhagat said the woman faith-healer had tortured her, poking her with fire.

“I was asleep at home. Suddenly they barged in, dragged me outside and beat me mercilessly,” she said.

The police post at Kalyanpur informed that an investigation is underway into the complaint lodged by Bhagat. “We have intensified our search for the perpetrators, but they are still at large,” said Sub-inpector Diwakar Katual.

According to Bhagat, this is not the first time she has been mistreated. A year ago also she was targeted by the same neighbors. The incident was settled at a meeting in the village.

Bhagat´s husband went to Qatar one-and-half years ago and she said following the incident she is even more frightened to live in the village without her husband. “My four children are also mentally stressed following the attack”, she said.
