KATHMANDU, Dec 1: Voting has started in Kirtipur Municipality of Kathmandu under the local level by-election.
Voting for the Mayor of the municipality and two Ward Chairpersons began at 7 AM.

The by-election is being held following the death of Rajkumar Nakarmi of the Nepali Congress (NC), who won the mayoral position in the previous election.
From the NC, Krishna Man Dangol has been nominated as a candidate, while the UML has fielded Surendra Manandhar, the Maoists have nominated Professor Shiva Sharan Maharjan, and Dhurba Maharjan is the candidate from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
In the previous local election, the NC won the election. Voting has started for the mayoral position as well as the chairperson positions of Ward number 1 and 4 in Kirtipur.
