Medical equipment worth billions dumped by govt hospitals

The meeting also decided that the damaged items will be auctioned or disposed of in accordance with the Financial Procedures and Fiscal Responsibility Act and regulations, with the process conducted from the International Conference Center.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, along with the Ministry of Urban Development, will coordinate the transfer of destroyed vehicles, equipment, and furniture from the Singha Durbar premises to the Conference Center.
On Bhadra 24, protesters set fire to and vandalized the Supreme Court, Singha Durbar, parliamentary buildings, several ministries, as well as private and commercial buildings. Hundreds of vehicles in those areas were also torched.
According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Home Affairs, protesters destroyed 263 government offices across the country, while 342 others sustained partial damage. Similarly, 82 police offices were completely destroyed and 124 were partially damaged.
The Gen-Z protests had erupted nationwide, including in the Kathmandu Valley, on Bhadra 23, demanding good governance, the reopening of banned social media platforms, and stronger action against corruption.
After 19 people were killed in police crackdowns on September 8, the demonstrations turned violent the following day, leading to widespread arson and vandalism.
