KATHMANDU, Sept 1: The CPN-UML has stepped up preparations for its second statute convention, scheduled for September 5–7 in Godawari, Lalitpur. The convention will primarily focus on the party’s statutes.
Standing Committee member and Chief of the Publicity Department, Rajendra Gautam, said tasks such as stage management and the compilation of representative details are progressing smoothly. He informed that a total of 2,349 participants, including 2,033 representatives, will attend the convention.
Those who served as representatives in the party’s 10th general convention continue as representatives this time. However, Gautam noted that some are no longer in the party due to death, resignation, or disciplinary action. Since party rules do not permit filling such vacancies, no new representatives will be added.

Similarly, UML Central Office Secretary Dr Bhishma Adhikari said all representatives were invited to the convention via SMS on Sunday.
The party has adopted the slogan: “Decisive national power is our resolution: Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali is our destination.” Three major documents — political, organizational, and statute reports — are being printed for discussion. Reports from the election commission, discipline commission, accounts commission, and advisory council are also being prepared.
Identity cards for representatives have already been printed and are also accessible online. Entry into the convention venue at Sunrise Hall, Godawari, will require QR code scanning.
Meanwhile, members of UML’s sister organizations and local committees are preparing welcome gates at Satdobato, Lalitpur.
