Two killed, two injured in truck-van collision in Rautahat

The accident occurred when a van (BaPra 03–001 J 0452) traveling from Barahathwa, Sarlahi toward Chandranigahapur collided head-on with a truck (MaPra 03–001 Kha 8600) coming from the opposite direction.

CHANDRAPUR, JUNE 4: Two people were killed and two others injured in a road accident at Mangalpur, Chandrapur-1, along the East-West Mahendra Highway in Rautahat district on Wednesday morning.



The accident occurred when a van (BaPra 03–001 J 0452) traveling from Barahathwa, Sarlahi toward Chandranigahapur collided head-on with a truck (MaPra 03–001 Kha 8600) coming from the opposite direction.

According to DSP Rajkumar Rai of the Chandranigahpur Area Police Office, 36-year-old Bhagiyadevi and 30-year-old Dhirendra Thakur, both residents of Khairwa, Ramnagar Rural Municipality–1, died while undergoing treatment at Chandrapur Hospital.


The injured have been identified as 18-year-old Rinakumari Yadav, daughter of deceased Bhagiyadevi, and 19-year-old Saroj Thakur from Bardharwa, Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality–5 of Rautahat.


Both drivers—Gyalsen Thokkar of the truck and Akash Singh of the van—are in police custody for further investigation.
