BAITADI, July 12: Two people were killed and six others injured in a jeep accident in Baitadi district. The jeep bearing number plate (Su Pra 04 001 Ja 1372), en route from Dhangadhi to Ganna, Darchula, met with an accident resulting in two fatalities.
According to Inspector Balram Pandey at District Police Office, Baitadi, the deceased have been identified as 24-year-old Santosh Bahadur Rana, who was also the driver, and 32-year-old Kiran Bohora, both residents of Dilasaini Rural Municipality-1.
Six, including driver, injured in jeep accident in Baitadi

Six others sustained injuries in the accident. The injured have been identified as 45-year-old Ram Kumar Rana, 21-year-old Bhagarati Khatri and her 2-year-old daughter Alisha, 21-year-old Hemant Prasad Bhatt, 27-year-old Rajendra Bahadur Khatri, and 51-year-old Kamala Dhami. Police said Rajendra and Kamala have been referred to Dhangadhi for further treatment.
The accident occurred at around 5:30 AM on Saturday at Khipali in Patan Municipality-6 of Baitadi. Following the incident, a team from the Area Police Office, Patan, and local residents were mobilized for rescue. The jeep reportedly plunged about 100 meters off the road before being stopped by a cliff.
The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
