Two ASIs promoted after successful ascent of Mount Everest

Nepal Police Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Kunjang Chopel Sherpa and Armed Police Force (APF) ASI Danta Bahadur Chhatyal have been promoted by one rank following their successful ascent of Mount Everest.

KATHMANDU, May 21: Nepal Police Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Kunjang Chopel Sherpa and Armed Police Force (APF) ASI Danta Bahadur Chhatyal have been promoted by one rank following their successful ascent of Mount Everest.



According to Nepal Police spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramesh Thapa, the police headquarters decided to promote Sherpa from ASI to Sub Inspector of Police (SI). Similarly, the APF has also decided to promote ASI Chhatyal to the rank of SI.

According to Nepal Police, ASI Sherpa successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest at 8:56 am on Monday. She is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on Thursday.


Similarly, Chhatyal successfully hoisted the “Sagarmatha Sambaad” banner and the flag of the APF at the summit of Mount Everest — 8,848 meters above sea level — at 9:20 am on May 18.
