Two arrested for allegedly killing their wives in separate domestic violence cases

Police have arrested two men in separate incidents of alleged domestic violence that led to the deaths of their wives in Parsa and Lalitpur districts.

KATHMANDU, Aug 3: Police have arrested two men in separate incidents of alleged domestic violence that led to the deaths of their wives in Parsa and Lalitpur districts.



In Parsa, 24-year-old Aspatalia Devi of Sankarsarainya Musahar Tole, Jirabhawani Rural Municipality-5, was reportedly beaten to death by her husband, Jitan Majhi. According to the Nepal Police Central News Desk, the incident occurred on Saturday evening following a domestic dispute. Devi died on the spot, and Majhi was arrested shortly after. Further investigation is underway.

In a separate case in Lalitpur, 46-year-old Niroj Kumar Khadka has been arrested for allegedly killing his 34-year-old wife, Kamalamaya Khadka. The couple resided in Godawari Municipality-14, Thaiba. Police said Kamala Maya died due to physical assault. Niroj was taken into custody early Sunday morning by a team sent from the Badegaun Police Post.


Police in both districts have launched investigations into the incidents, which highlight the ongoing issue of domestic violence in Nepal.
