KATHMANDU, July 14: Traffic rule violators in Nepal will no longer need to visit traffic police offices for awareness classes. Nepal Police has launched an online traffic awareness class to make the process more convenient and transparent.
Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak inaugurated the digital service at the Nepal Police Headquarters in Kathmandu on Sunday.
Under the new system, users of the Nagarik App can attend awareness classes online and complete required procedures digitally. Previously, individuals caught for offenses like drunk driving, running red lights, overspeeding, or lane violations were required to be physically present at traffic offices for the class.

The traffic police, who had already implemented an online fine payment system, have now introduced the “Tech Online Class” service through the Nagarik App.
The participant’s mobile camera must remain on and focused on their face throughout the session. AI technology will monitor face detection from start to finish.
If the face is not visible, the camera is off or the user receives three warnings, the session will disconnect. In such cases, the participant must wait 12 hours before rejoining the class.
The initiative aims to reduce administrative burden, eliminate paperwork, promote responsible behavior, and make traffic law enforcement more tech-friendly.
