Three killed, four injured after bus hits pedestrians in Makwanpur

A road accident in Thaha Municipality-3 along the Tribhuvan Highway has left three people dead and four others injured.

MAKWANPUR, May 26: A road accident in Thaha Municipality-3 along the Tribhuvan Highway has left three people dead and four others injured.



The accident occurred on Monday evening when a passenger bus (Ba 3 Kha 5990), en route from Bajrabarahi's Gopali village to Thana Bazaar, lost control due to brake failure and struck seven pedestrians near the Nepal Electricity Authority office.

According to the District Police Office, the deceased have been identified as Krishna Balami, approximately 40, Lokendra Kumar Thakur, 38, and Raghunandan Yadav from Aurahi Rural Municipality-1 of Siraha district. The addresses of the other two deceased individuals have yet to be confirmed.


One seriously injured person is receiving treatment at the Trauma Center in Kathmandu, while others are treated at the Palung Primary Health Center. Police have taken the bus driver, 29-year-old Rajesh Karki of Thaha-5, Basanta, into custody and started an investigation.
