Singh said that there are no boundaries in criminal investigations and there should be no discrimination between foreign and domestic citizens. He added that whoever commits a crime, regardless of their nationality, is a criminal. No one can prevent bringing the criminal to justice.

He further mentioned that the investigation into Prakriti Lamsal's death was based on facts, and the accused is still in custody. On February 16, Prakriti was found dead in her hostel room. After she was found hanging, Nepali students studying there staged protests, demanding a fair investigation.

According to the Nepali students, Prakriti had repeatedly suffered mental harassment from Advik Srivastava, and complaints had been lodged multiple times with the university administration regarding the matter. However, the university administration had not taken the issue seriously, which led to the incident, prompting the Nepali students to go on protest.

The police had arrested Advik Srivastava, on charges of mentally harassing Lamsal. The accused, Srivastava, is currently in police custody in Bhubaneswar. The police have stated that he is being interrogated as per the requirements of the investigation.
