KATHMANDU, May 15: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against 16 individuals, including former Minister and Nepali Congress MP Mohan Bahadur Basnet in the Telecommunication Traffic Monitoring and Fraud Control System (TERAMOCS) procurement case on Wednesday.
The CIAA has filed a case in the TERAMOCS procurement incident, accusing the involved individuals of preparing a false report in favor of an unqualified bidder and causing damage to state property by not following the legal provisions as mandated by the Supreme Court’s order.
CIAA implicates Basnet in TERAMOCS case, exempts Karki

According to the CIAA, a claim of Rs 3.21 billion in damages has been made against the accused.
Former Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, is currently a Member of the House of Representatives, elected from Sindhupalchok Constituency No 2.
The CIAA has concluded that then-Minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet acted beyond his jurisdiction by making a unilateral decision and issuing directives for implementation. Following his instructions, the then-officials of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, in collusion with one another, carried out actions that were contrary to the prevailing laws.
