KATHMANDU, July 17: Shova Gyawali, President of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN), said that the optimal use of technology can transform a village girl into a global entrepreneur.
Speaking at the grand opening of Oometo Partners in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Gyawali emphasized that innovation is not limited to developing websites or mobile apps. True innovation, she said, lies in creating an inclusive, secure, and sustainable digital marketplace by utilizing artificial intelligence, secure digital payment systems, trust-building mechanisms, and efficient delivery systems.
Delivering the keynote address at the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, FWEAN President Gyawali stressed that in today’s rapidly evolving digital age, innovation is no longer a choice but a necessity. “E-commerce platforms have erased geographical boundaries and opened up new opportunities for small and medium enterprises. This has especially benefited women, youth, and entrepreneurs from rural communities,” she said.

She added that technology can bring light into everyday lives and that everyone must adapt with the times. “A digital commerce platform is not just about technology,” she noted. “It is a tool for economic transformation—one that connects women-led businesses, home-based producers, and innovative young entrepreneurs to national and global markets.”
Highlighting that strong participation of women in digital access and innovation is the backbone of economic prosperity, Gyawali said Nepal can move toward self-reliance if all stakeholders work together.
“Today’s gathering is a symbol of partnership, fresh ideas, and a shared commitment to the future,” she said. “Let us ensure the presence of women, youth, and rural entrepreneurs in the digital commerce ecosystem and, together, build an inclusive economic future.”
With the goal of becoming Nepal’s largest direct-to-consumer (D2C) unified commerce platform, Oometo Partners held its grand opening ceremony in Kathmandu on Wednesday. The event was marked by the notable presence of entrepreneurs, business leaders, and tech professionals from various sectors. Speakers at the event welcomed Oometo Partners as a new opportunity in Nepal’s e-commerce landscape.
Addressing the gathering, Oometo Partners CEO Sagar Pokharel said the platform aims to play a leading role in transforming entrepreneurship and digital commerce in the country. “This will keep the country's money within the country,” he said, “and lead the nation towards self-reliance.”
He expressed confidence that the platform would directly connect Nepali customers and businesses, offering affordable prices, fast delivery, and reliable services. He also shared that the platform aims to reach one million users and up to 25,000 partners by 2026.
