KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce stunned fans on Tuesday by revealing their engagement through a joint Instagram post after dating for two years.
The 35-year-old pop icon and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, also 35, shared photos of themselves in a flower-filled setting with the caption: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married” followed by a firecracker emoji. In the pictures, Kelce is seen proposing on one knee with a custom-designed ring by New York jeweler Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry, according to People.
Google even joined in the celebration—typing Swift’s name triggered a virtual shower of confetti.

Swift and Kelce began their romance in July 2023 during Swift’s Eras Tour. Kelce first tried to pass along his phone number on a friendship bracelet at a Kansas City show, but when that failed, he admitted his crush on his podcast New Heights. The pair soon connected, making their relationship public in September 2023 when Swift attended a Chiefs game.
Since then, the couple has frequently made headlines, including Swift changing the lyrics of her song Karma to reference Kelce, and their viral kiss after his Super Bowl LVIII win in 2024. Kelce has also appeared on stage with Swift during her London concert last year.
Earlier this month, the pair co-hosted an episode of New Heights to announce Swift’s upcoming 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl. The episode broke the Guinness World Record for most concurrent YouTube podcast viewers, with 1.3 million tuning in live and more than 20 million views since.
Speculation about an engagement had been mounting, especially after a photo of Kelce’s phone lock screen showing Swift with her hand extended circulated online.
Congratulations poured in soon after the announcement, including from the NFL and Brittany Mahomes, who called them “two of the most genuine people.” Even President Donald Trump commented, wishing the couple “a lot of luck” and calling both Swift and Kelce “terrific.”
For longtime Swift fans, the engagement marks a milestone in her personal journey. The singer, known for writing about past relationships, has previously dated actors and musicians including Joe Alwyn, Tom Hiddleston, Joe Jonas, and John Mayer.
