KATHMANDU, May 25: The Sunkoshi Marin Multipurpose Diversion Project, which aims to provide year-round irrigation to about 122,000 hectares of land in the mid-Terai districts of Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, and Bara, and generate 31.7 megawatts of electricity, is progressing at a slow pace.

It has been four years since the project's foundation was laid, yet there has been no significant progress in its construction. Last month, the Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, instructed the contractor company to find solutions and expedite the delayed project.
