KATHMANDU, Aug 23: Sunita Ahuja, wife of veteran Bollywood actor Govinda, has reportedly filed for divorce at the Bandra Family Court, citing adultery, cruelty and desertion as grounds for ending their 38-year-long marriage, according to The Indian Express.
This comes shortly after her emotional appearance in a vlog, where she addressed persistent rumours surrounding their marriage.

The Indian Express reported that Sunita submitted the petition under Section 13 (1) (i), (ia), and (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. While Sunita has been attending hearings and court-mandated counselling sessions since June 2025, Govinda has been absent from all proceedings, prompting the issuance of a show-cause notice.
Sunita recently addressed the rumours surrounding their marriage in a vlog from Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Temple. She said, “When I met Govinda, I prayed to the Goddess to have a good life and a happy marriage. The Goddess fulfilled my wishes and blessed me with two children. But not every truth in life is easy. I know that whoever tries to break my home, Maa Kaali is there.”
The couple’s relationship has been under scrutiny for years. Sunita previously revealed that she had celebrated her birthday alone for 12 years and that the couple had been living separately due to Govinda’s professional commitments and “talkative nature.”
In February 2025, Govinda’s team confirmed that Sunita had filed for divorce six months earlier but claimed the couple had since reconciled. Meanwhile, reports suggesting Govinda’s closeness with a 30-year-old Marathi actress surfaced but were dismissed by family friend Lalit Bindal, who said the couple “are going strong and will always remain together.”
