In another semifinal, Biplab Malla´s 18 points helped Rupy´s pull off an interesting 58-51 win over Trinity College. Rupy´s took 15 points lead as it scored 19-4 in the first quarter. Trinity bounced back in the second and third quarters scoring 15-13 and 20-9 points and cut the lead to two points. Rupy´s took the last quarter 17-12 to seal victory.
KC, Thapa best taekwondo players
KATHMANDU: Nepal International Taekwondo Association on Monday declared Pukar KC and Mamata Thapa as the best players of the year in male and female category respectively. Palpa District Taekwondo Association received the best district association award. Both the players along with the association received Rs 5,000 each. KC and Thapa had won two gold medals each during the Sixth National Games.
Khatri, Maharjan win gold
KATHMANDU: The pair of Renuka Khatri and Alina Maharjan of Morgan College on Monday bagged gold in the Third Krishna Dhoj Memorial Valleywide Inter College and School Table Tennis Tournament in the girls´ category. In the final held at National Table Tennis Training Center, Lainchaur, Khatri and Maharjan registered a 18-16, 8-11, 11-4 and 11-8 victory over Kajol Rauniyar and Manita Chitrakar of Oxbridge College.
Prime and Bijeshwori College have advanced into the final of the team event. Prime defeated Alliance Academy 3-0 while Bijeshwori overcame Oxbridge 3-1. In the team events of school level, Bijeshwori bagged gold with a 3-0 victory over Mount Valley. Altogether 375 players from different colleges and schools are competing for 19 gold medals.
