KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Former Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire has expressed concern over the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR), saying it would have been preferable to seek a solution without dissolving parliament.

During an inspection of the Parliament building on Thursday, Ghimire lamented the incidents of arson and vandalism at public buildings, including the Parliament premises and Singha Durbar.

“What happened and what we are going through now is extremely unfortunate. It is everyone’s responsibility to rise above this and move forward in the right way,” he said, adding that all sides must engage constructively.

He further remarked that the violence and destruction could have been avoided if political actors had pursued alternative solutions. “Better options were available, but unfortunately they were not explored, and this tragic incident occurred,” he said.

Ghimire also underscored the responsibility of the interim government, urging it to address the crisis and lead the country toward stability.
