Speaker Ghimire off to Geneva to attend sixth world congress of Speakers

KATHMANDU, July 28: Speaker Devraj Ghimire left for Switzerland on Sunday evening to participate in the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament.



The gathering of parliamentary leaders of the world is taking place from July 29 to 31 in Geneva, Switzerland. The high-level dialogue is jointly organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the United Nations.

Speaker Gimire is leading a three-member delegation comprising HoR member Eknath Dhakal and Ghimire's personal secretary Tej Prakash Bhattarai, according to Speaker Ghimire's Secretariat.


The Speaker is scheduled to deliver an address during the conference and hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the UK, Switzerland and Bhutan, among others, informed Ekram Giri, Spokesperson of the Federal Parliament Secretariat.  


Additionally, Speaker Ghimire will also attend a dinner hosted by the Parliament of Switzerland. He is scheduled to return home on August 3, said the Federal Parliament Secretariat.
