KATHMANDU, Sept 1: Sixteen officers of the Armed Police Force (APF), including a Superintendent of Police (SP) and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), have been relieved of their command duties following poor performance in revenue collection and operational activities at border customs points.
According to APF, the decision was made by the APF Headquarters after internal assessments revealed shortcomings in the officers' responsibilities. Those removed include 1 SP, 1 DSP, 7 Inspectors, 6 Sub-Inspectors (SI), and 1 Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI).

The APF Headquarters has intensified internal monitoring of commanders deployed in border areas. According to officials, several officers, including Basnet, had previously been removed before completing their terms due to unsatisfactory performance and were also subject to disciplinary actions.
The APF said that surveillance and internal reviews are also being increased across other provinces, with commanders at battalions, companies, and border outposts now under closer scrutiny.
