KATHMANDU, Sept 12: Second-tier leaders from major political parties have jointly appealed for the formation of an interim government in line with the spirit of the Gen Z movement, along with three powerful commissions to ensure accountability and reform.
In a statement issued on Thursday, 16 leaders from Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), as well as an independent lawmaker, admitted their failure to uphold democratic values within their parties and apologized to the public.
All seven constitutional commissions remain ineffective

They urged that once an interim government is formed, a commission should be established to investigate the loss of lives, property damage, and targeted attacks during the recent protests, ensuring that perpetrators are brought under the law.
The leaders also demanded a high-level commission to probe the assets of top-level officials and curb corruption, as well as a constitutional review and reform commission to address necessary amendments and strengthen internal party democracy.
Signatories of the statement include Minendra Rijal (NC), Surendra Pandey (UML), Gokarna Bista (UML), NP Saud (NC), Janardan Sharma (Maoist Center), Devendra Poudel (Maoist Center), Sudan Kirati (Maoist Center), Amanlal Modi (Maoist Center), Dhanraj Sharma (Maoist Center), Ram Kumari Jhakri (Unified Socialist), Prakash Jwala (Unified Socialist), Dhan Shyam Bhusal (Unified Socialist), Santosh Pariyar (RSP), Raj Kishor Yadav (JSP), Amresh Singh (Independent), and Chandra Bhandari (NC).
