KATHMANDU, Jun 1: Pro-monarchist demonstrators and police scuffled in Naxal, Kathmandu, on Sunday after protesters demanding the restoration of the monarchy attempted to enter the restricted zone near the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar.
The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and other pro-monarchist groups had pre-announced the protest. They gathered at Narayan Chaur at 2 pm and set out to surround Baluwatar.

Tension briefly escalated when police tried to block the procession near Naxal.
Authorities had declared Baluwatar a restricted zone and ramped up security. On Saturday, pro-monarchist groups had also demonstrated outside the restricted area and planned to do the same on Sunday.
Pro-monarchist leaders warned that unnecessary restrictions on peaceful protests could trigger confrontation. They pledged to continue their joint movement.
