KATHMANDU, Sep 14: Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki has decided to appoint senior advocate Sabita Bhandari Baral as the Attorney General.
Based on PM Karki’s recommendation, President Ram Chandra Paudel will now appoint Baral as the new Attorney General, the legal advisor to the government. Baral is a former Information Commissioner at the National Information Commission.

Earlier, President Ram Chandra Paudel had approved the resignation of former AG Ramesh Badal. It is customary for the AG to resign after the change of government.
Under the leadership of the country's first female Prime Minister, Savita Bhandari has become the first female Attorney General of the country.
