KATHMANDU, Aug 24: Remittance inflow in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25 reached an all-time high. Monthly inflows have also been steadily increasing and annual remittance inflow has now set a new record.
During the FY 2024/25, remittances totaled Rs 1,723.27 billion, marking a 19.2 percent increase compared to the previous FY 2023/24. In FY 2023/24, remittance inflow was Rs 1,445 billion, which had grown 16.5 percent over the prior year, according to Nepal Rastra Bank.

In Asar 2082 (mid-June to mid-July 2025) alone, remittance inflow was Rs 189.11 billion, compared to Rs 117.78 billion in the same month last year.
In terms of US dollars, remittance inflow increased by 16.3 percent during the review year, reaching $1.264 billion. Last year, it had grown by 14.5 percent. During the FY, gross domestic secondary income reached Rs 1,874.30 billion, up from Rs 1,571.24 billion the previous year.
The number of Nepalis receiving final labor approval for foreign employment during the FY 2024/25 was 505,957, while 333,309 renewed labor approval. In the previous year, these numbers were 460,102 and 281,195, respectively.
