KATHMANDU, July 21: The flood and landslide that struck Rasuwa on July 7 have led to insurance claims totaling nearly Rs 290 million. According to the Insurance Board, nine insurance companies, including Shikhar Insurance, Neco Insurance and Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance, have received claims worth Rs 289.2 million.
Shikhar Insurance received the highest claim amount of Rs 161.2 million from 10 insured parties. Neco Insurance received Rs 51.2 million from three clients and Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance received Rs 34.1 million from seven clients. Other claims include Rs 7.7 million at Sanima GIC Limited from six parties, Rs 7.55 million at IGI Prudential Insurance from nine parties and Rs 6.8 million at United Ajod Insurance from three parties. NLG Insurance received Rs 4.7 million from six claims, and Siddhartha Premier Insurance received Rs 3.1 million from seven claims.
Rasuwa flood triggers insurance claims worth Rs 985.9 million

Out of 63 total claims, six are related to marine insurance, four to engineering and contractor risks, 10 to property insurance, 32 to public motor insurance and 11 to private motor insurance. The flood, which originated from China, swept away the Nepal-China connecting Miteri Bridge, along with the dry port, vehicles and containers.
