KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has filed a writ petition at the Butwal bench of the Tulsipur High Court, challenging the Rupandehi District Court’s order to keep him in custody.
A single bench of Judge Narayan Prasad Sapkota at the Rupandehi District Court had earlier directed authorities to continue the investigation against Lamichhane while keeping him in detention.
SC orders digital record of Rabi Lamichhane’s cooperative fraud...

Lamichhane, who has been in custody since April 7 in connection with the Butwal-based Supreme Cooperative fraud case, is currently being held at Nakkhu prison. According to court official Ram Bahadur Kunwar, the writ petition seeks to overturn the latest detention order.
On August 4, Lamichhane had submitted a petition at the Rupandehi District Court, arguing that he was not involved in the cooperative fraud. He had also offered to secure the return of depositors’ savings and deposited a bank guarantee worth Rs 274.84 million, equivalent to his alleged share of the financial loss, as bail.
Earlier on April 4, the Butwal bench of the Tulsipur High Court had ordered his remand for trial, and the Supreme Court later upheld that decision.
