PROTON, Jagdamba Motors launch Malaysia’s first EV in Nepal

PROTON Malaysia, in partnership with Jagdamba Motors, officially launched the Proton e.MAS 7, Malaysia’s first locally developed electric vehicle in Nepal.

KATHMANDU, Aug 18: PROTON Malaysia, in partnership with Jagdamba Motors, officially launched the Proton e.MAS 7, Malaysia’s first locally developed electric vehicle in Nepal.



The partnership, established in November 2018, has positioned Nepal as a strategic growth market for PROTON, with Jagdamba Motors serving as the brand’s sole authorized distributor in the country, the company said in a press release. The Proton e.MAS 7, developed in collaboration with Geely, combines advanced EV technology with region-specific design, reflecting PROTON’s goal to lead the EV transition in ASEAN and beyond.

The launch was attended by PROTON CEO Dr. Li Chunrong, who highlighted the company’s long-term commitment to the Nepalese market. Edmund Lim Meng Thong, CEO of PROTON International, said the collaboration ensures comprehensive sales and after-sales support for Nepali customers.


Jagdamba Motors, with over 14 years of experience, plans to expand its EV network to 12 showrooms and service centers by the end of 2025. The company will provide certified technicians, genuine PROTON parts, advanced diagnostic tools, and streamlined warranty services, the press release further stated.
