INARUWA, April 18: Property worth Rs 6 million perished in a fire incident that occurred at Koshi rural municipality-6 of Sunsari district on Thursday.



The fire made to ward off mosquitoes spread to 10 houses in the neighbourhood, turning them into ashes. It caused the loss of some Rs 6 million, according to a local Birendra Kumar Yadav.

Those losing houses in the blaze are Babu Nand Goit, Ramanand Ram Yadav, Manoj Yadav, Khushi Lal Goit and Bijay Goit.


Babu Nanda Goit said Rs 100,000 in cash was gutted in fire. The furniture, jewelry and household materials were also destroyed in the blaze, according to Dinesh Adhikari, an deputy spokesperson at the District Police Office, Sunsari.


The fire was brought under control jointly by the Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force and locals. A fire engine was also used to douse the flame, the police added.
