BIRGUNJ, Aug 13: The District Administration Office, Parsa has formed an investigation committee to probe the death of an inmate while receiving treatment. Inmate Rahul Sah Turah died on Tuesday while being treated at Narayani Hospital.
A meeting of stakeholders, chaired by Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal, formed the probe panel under the coordination of Assistant Chief District Officer Babulal Regmi, giving it 15 days to complete the investigation and submit a report.

Members of the probe team include Deputy Superintendent and Information Officer at the District Police Office Kishor Lamsal, people’s representative Jagdish Sah Turah, the deceased’s brother Makesh Sah Turah, human rights activist Man Kumari Lama, FNJ district chairperson Om Prakash Khanal, and a representative from the Nepal Medical Association.
The meeting also decided to proceed with other legal procedures, including the postmortem of the body.
Turah had been serving a three-year jail term for murder at Birgunj Prison.
Prison Chief Khimraj Bhusal said Turah was taken to Narayani Hospital for treatment after complaining of severe chest pain early Tuesday morning. However, relatives of the deceased have accused the Chief District Officer of not allowing the hospital to refer Turah to a better-equipped health facility.
Following the inmate’s death, his relatives protested by burning tires at the hospital gate.
