KATHMANDU, Sept 3: Private schools across the country have announced they will suspend classes on September 9 and 10 as part of their protests against the proposed Education Bill.
According to the Private and Boarding Schools' Organization, Nepal (PABSON), the demonstrations would be organized in a way that brings Kathmandu to a halt.

Earlier, umbrella organizations of private schools, including PABSON, National PABSON, HISSAN, APEN and NMA, had announced closures starting September 3, but later withdrew the decision.
The groups have put forward five demands, including the removal of the term “full scholarship” from the bill, scrapping provisions requiring schools to provide uniforms, stationery, food and other non-academic supplies, and withdrawing the clause mandating that schools registered under the Companies Act be converted into non-profit institutions.
Private schools’ associations have already declared a phase-wise protest program beginning Thursday (September 4). As part of this protest, mass assemblies will be held at all district headquarters at 11 am, while a protest-preparation training session is scheduled at Hotel Western Plus, Tilganga, at 2 pm the same day.
