Prez Paudel releases pigeons for world peace on Buddha Jayanti (Photo Feature)

On the occasion of the 2569th Buddha Jayanti, President Ram Chandra Paudel and First Lady Sabita Paudel visited the Guru Lhakhang Monastery in Boudhanath, where they offered worship and paid homage to Lord Gautama Buddha.

KATHMANDU, May 12: On the occasion of the 2569th Buddha Jayanti, President Ram Chandra Paudel and First Lady Sabita Paudel visited the Guru Lhakhang Monastery in Boudhanath, where they offered worship and paid homage to Lord Gautama Buddha.



During the visit, President Paudel circumambulated the Boudha. On that occasion, President Paudel circumambulated the Buddhist Mahachaitya and had a sight of invaluable remains- Astudhatu. President Paudel had reached Bouddha along with First Lady Sabita to offer prayers, worship and have a glimpse of the Ashtadhatu on Buddha Jayanti.

From early morning, devotees gathered in large numbers at Boudhanath to view the Ashtadhatu. On this Buddha Jayanti, rare relics of Kashyapa Buddha and Swayambhu Mahachaitya were also displayed to the public. In a symbolic act for world peace, the President participated in a special ritual by releasing pigeons.
