KATHMANDU, June 5: President Ramchandra Paudel has emphasized the importance of living a lifestyle that is friendly to the environment and nature.
Extending his best wishes for happiness, peace, and prosperity to all Nepali brothers and sisters at home and abroad on the occasion of World Environment Day, the President highlighted the importance of embracing an eco-conscious way of living.
"Increasing environmental challenges posed by the unregulated and unscientific use of plastic polymers call for action. Development and environment are complementary to each other. I sincerely call on everyone concerned to adopt a nature-friendly lifestyle and promote activities that improve our environment," the President said in his message.
'Yoga helps in adopting realistic lifestyle'

In the context of this year's theme, "Beat Plastic Pollution: Our Responsibility," the President stated that this day should serve as a reminder for everyone to work towards improving their local environment. To fulfil each citizen's constitutional right to live in a clean and healthy environment, he called on people to improve the ecological balance between forests, water, vegetation, agriculture, and wildlife.
President Paudel emphasized the importance of a shared focus on the sustainable preservation of the interconnectedness of nature and the environment. He urged all Nepalis to unite in reducing pollution caused by plastics and to support activities that enhance environmental conservation.
The President also expressed sincere gratitude to all stakeholders, including government and non-government organizations and development partners, for their active involvement in environmental conservation.
He expressed hope that this day would reinforce unity and enthusiasm in implementing Nepal's commitments and agendas raised on national and international platforms to reduce the environmental impacts of air, water, and land pollution.
