NEPALGUNJ, Aug 14: President of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs' Association of Nepal (FWEAN), Shova Gyawali, has emphasized the need for policy-level reforms to accelerate the growth of the women’s entrepreneurship sector.
Speaking at the 22nd Annual General Meeting and 11th Convention of FWEAN in Banke on Wednesday, Gyawali highlighted the federation’s ongoing efforts in capacity building, leadership development, and economic empowerment for women entrepreneurs.
“We work at the central level to bring policy changes that help women entrepreneurs move forward,” Gyawali said, adding that the federation has emerged as a national platform with its roots in Banke district. She credited the women entrepreneurs of Banke for their significant contribution in expanding the organization to the central level.

The FWEAN, President Gyawali noted, is prioritizing youth-focused programs to encourage domestic entrepreneurship and job creation. As part of this effort, it is advocating for policy arrangements to provide concessional loans of up to Rs. 2.5 million at 3 percent interest for five years. She also praised the “Koseli Ghar” initiative in Banke, which promotes locally made products, many of which are now being exported to countries including Australia.
The inaugural session, chaired by Sabitri Basnet, President of FWEAN Banke, saw the presence of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Prashant Bista as the chief guest. Other speakers included central members and provincial presidents Saraswati Sharma Parajuli (Lumbini) and Shila Nepali (Karnali), Lions Club District Governor Gyanendra Shrestha, FNJ Banke President Nabin Giri, and Nepalgunj Customs Office Chief Janardan Poudel.
During the event, several contributors were honored for their support to the association, including Mayor Bista, FWEAN President Gyawali, past Banke President and central member Sharma Parajuli, central member and Karnali Province President Shila Nepali, KL Dugar Group Managing Director Pradeep Chhajed, advisors Hari Subedi and Kamal Khatri, and office manager Mina Chaudhary.
Rewati Singh elected new president of Banke chapter
The 11th District Convention elected a new working committee under the leadership of Rewati Singh for a two-year term. Singh, who previously served as the first vice-president, was elected unopposed.
The newly elected committee includes Abha Gautam (First Vice-President), Sunita Pandey (Second Vice-President), Sarita Shakya (Third Vice-President), Bindu Chartimagar (General Secretary), Sushma Subedi (Secretary), and Kusum Dugar (Treasurer). Members elected are Sushma Gyawali, Shashi Swar, Sarita Chaudhary, Shobha Damari Shrestha, Gita Maurya, Rekha Bohara, Dhanmaya Luitel (Richa), Saraswati Thapa, Basanta Sharma, and Simita Rana.
