KATHMANDU, April 10: On the occasion of the 2,624th birth anniversary of Mahavir, the founder of Jainism, President Ramchandra Paudel extended heartfelt greetings to all Nepali Jain community members, both in Nepal and abroad, wishing them happiness, peace, and prosperity.
In his message today, President Paudel expressed the belief that following Mahavir's guidance for humanity's welfare-by practicing non-violence and self-discipline-can strengthen national unity while maintaining tolerance and harmony among religious, social, and cultural diversity.

President Paudel also expressed confidence that Mahavir Jayanti would inspire everyone to foster mutual trust, love, and unity and work towards building a civilized and cultured society.
Each year, on the 13th day of Chaitra Shukla, Jain followers worldwide, including in Nepal, organize various events to celebrate Mahavir Jayanti. Mahavir taught his followers the five principles for attaining liberation: non-violence, truth, non-stealing, celibacy, and non-possessiveness. In Nepal, Jain, Vedic, Buddhist, Sikh, and other communities enthusiastically celebrate Mahavir Jayanti each year.
