KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Due to insecurity, medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai will not step out of his house on Friday.

A large number of security personnel have been deployed around Prasai's house in Thimi, Bhaktapur. The Prasai Group announced that it will start the demonstration from Tinkune in Kathmandu on Friday.

Prasai’s secretariat member Bijay Kandel told Republica, “There is a security cordon outside. His health hasn’t gotten any better. That's why he will not be present in today's demonstration.”

He informed Republica that even if Prasai doesn’t step out of his house, his supporters would demonstrate. “We can demonstrate in any square in Kathmandu. You don't have to go to Tinkune”, Kandel said, “We are in the strategy of protesting from wherever we can and leaving no square left.”

The Prasai group had planned to demonstrate at Tinkune on Friday morning. But the District Administration Office Kathmandu did not give the permission for the same. A large number of security personnel have been deployed around Prasai's house.

Kandel claimed that although there were rumors that Prasai would be detained, nothing was officially received from the government. “The police are oppressing us a lot. As soon as people come out, they catch them and charge them with batons," he said.

Prasai, who initially started his campaign by promising to free the debtors from the loans of financial institutions and banks, has recently started saying that his agenda is to overthrow the current system of governance.
