KATHMANDU, June 2: Nepal Police has warned ride-sharing companies against overcharging passengers, following widespread complaints of fare manipulation during the ongoing transport strike enforced by transport entrepreneurs.
Issuing a notice on Sunday, the police stated that they will take action against companies and drivers found charging arbitrary fares. They urged passengers to report any incidents of overcharging to the nearest traffic police office or by calling 103.

After the strike was announced, passengers across Kathmandu reported that ride-sharing drivers from platforms such as Pathao, Indrive and Tootle were engaging in offline bargaining and collecting excessive fares.
"We have received complaints that drivers are overcharging passengers and bargaining offline through various ride-sharing apps," the notice reads. "We urge riders to refrain from such practices and request the public to report such incidents to the nearest traffic police office or dial 103."
