TIKAPUR, July 3: Police are facing serious challenges in uncovering clues related to the gruesome murder of Matadevi Shahi, 80, whose body was discovered on July 1 in Janaki Rural Municipality-9, Amarawati, Kailali.
Shahi, who lived alone in her two-storey mud house, was found dead with severe injuries to her head, neck, and chest caused by a sharp weapon, according to police.

Despite launching an investigation, authorities have yet to gather substantial leads. A few suspects have been detained, and police are conducting polygraph tests and forensic sampling to aid the investigation.
DSP Nabin Raja Budhathoki, chief of the Area Police Office, Tikapur, confirmed the ongoing investigation and said several suspects are being questioned.
Shahi's brutal murder has instilled fear in the local community, especially as drug abuse and related crimes have been on the rise. Locals recall a similar incident two years ago, when drug users murdered a young man by slitting his throat in a nearby community forest in Amarawati.
