Police recover 1,120 kg marijuana in  Sunsari, no suspects found involved in trafficking

Police have recovered 1,120 kilograms of marijuana from Harinagar Rural Municipality in Sunsari district. The marijuana was found buried under sand in the river basin of Katan Khola, located in wards 5 and 6 of Harinagar.

KATHMANDU, June 4: Police have recovered 1,120 kilograms of marijuana from Harinagar Rural Municipality in Sunsari district. The marijuana was found buried under sand in the river basin of Katan Khola, located in wards 5 and 6 of Harinagar.



According to the Koshi Province Police Office, acting on a tip-off, a joint team from the Sunsari District Police Office, the Area Police Office Dewanganj, and the Armed Police Force reached the riverbed of Katan Khola on Tuesday. During the search operation, 38 plastic sacks filled with marijuana were found buried in the river basin.

The location where the marijuana was found is near the Indian border. The seized marijuana has been brought to the District Police Office in Inaruwa, Sunsari, and investigations are ongoing to identify those involved in the smuggling.
